    NEW ACAR SYSTEM IN EFFECT

We have partnered with Virtual Sky Aviation to track our flights. Many more updates are in the works, but for now go to the DVA forum to get instructions for downloading this ACAR. We have tested it and it works great. There will be a break in period and we know you will have questions.
More info to come, stay tuned.
NEW DETAILS TO PAY ATTENTION TO:
Once you are ready for your first flight do this:
Start FSX/P#D/Xplane and park it at a gate with the parking brake set. Turn your nav/beacon lights on.
Now it is time to start VSA ACAR flight.
When you push back or start taxiing turn on your taxi lights.
As you enter the rwy turn on landing lights and off taxi light. Also turn on strobe light and pitot heat.
As you leave 10000 feet turn OFF landing lights. Same when you descend turn on landing lights at 10000 feet. There are NO penalties here, just personal satisfaction of having things done right and you will be able to score 100%.
Come on teamSpeak Saturday mornings/afternoon if you have questions 0900PST/1200EST/1700UTC

    UPGRADE TO NEW VSA ACAR

    8:00 amAt VSA

DVA pilots please note the following server schedule NOTAM from VSA:

I wanted to let you all know so that you can distribute the information through your channels. There will be a scheduled outage on 21 February 2020 from 0800est – 1300est. The website will still up and operational as will ACARS. However, there will points where it will go down for a few minutes here and there. I would not want pilots flying during this time to loose anything. If they so wish to still fly they may loose there ACARS data.

    Group Flight

    12:00 pmJoint Eastern/DVA event. 5Z1 Juneau ,Alaska

    HOPS Group Flights
We will test a new concept this Saturday. Joining Eastern in a float plane event.

This would be a great opportunity to do joint flights with another VA and enjoy meeting and flying with other VA pilots.

EasternHops uses the FSX Steam multiplayer server (I guess FSX only), but we could also use JoinFS for P3D and other sim platforms.

The password for the server channel is “snowdog”. We will be meeting on the Eastern teamspeak (ts3.easternhops.com), no password required. You may join on JoinFS as well.

Float planes only. Use the Grumman Goose. If you want to use other float planes you need to change your parking brake cfg from 0 to 1

    Joint DVA and VSA event

    12:00 pmEGPO, Stornoway UK

DVA is hosting a joint Pilot event with VSA Pilots on Saturday, 04-04-2020 at 12:00EDT/16:00UTC

This event will be for prop aircraft flying in the United Kingdom.

There are three files attached: A map of the UK routes, a .pln file (flight plan) you can load into your GPS, and a text file listing the routes we will be flying (Probably won’t complete them all. We’ll pick up the next week where we leave off.)

These flights have been loaded into the VSA web site. After logging in, select “Operations Centre”, “Schedule”, “Operator / Codeshare” (HOPS), and then select the departing city. This is designated as “UK09 , Stornoway,UK (EGPO). The destination “Glasgow, UK (EGPF) will autofill. (Only two pilots at a time can book the same flight from the VSA Webb Site. All other pilots can enter the information directly into ACARS.)

We will be using JoinFS multiplayer platform to all fly together. Download Link: https://pmem.uk/joinfs/install.html

We will be communicating on the DVA TeamSpeak Channel. Download Link: https://www.teamspeak3.com/teamspeak-download.php

The DVA TeamSpeak server address is 192.227.227.146:8754 PW: delta2014

It sure would be great if pilots from VSA and DVA can get to fly these routes together and get flight credit for them. We can all enjoy the company and flying together.

Joined DVA/VSA Group Flight in The Caribbean

12:00 pmTJSJ San Juan, Puerto Rico

This Saturday 04-18-2020 at 12:00EDT, VSA CEO, Russel Pickron is hosting a joint Multiplayer pilot event. This event is open to all VSA and DVA pilots. We will be flying props in the Caribbean, starting at TJSJ, San Juan, Puerto Rico. You can use FSX, P3D, or Xplane.

You can get VA flight credits for these flights. They are loaded in the VSA Ops Center-Schedule-HOPS Codeshare. In the “From City drop down, look for flights: SJ01 through SJ18. Since the web site only let’s two people book the same flights at the same time, it’s best to enter these flights directly into the ACARS system using the information from the web site for each flight. Of course you can fly with everyone without booking the flights if you want to. Since most pilot will fly for 1 or 2 hours, we won’t be able to fly them all in one day.

We will meet on the VSA TeamSpeak voice system: vsadva.teamspeak3.com / Pw: vsadva36 at around 11:30EDT.

Free Download link: https://www.teamspeak3.com/teamspeak-download.php Just download the Client 3.32 for either 64-BIT or 32-BIT computers.

We will be using a multiplayer platform called JoinFS. You can download the application at: https://pmem.uk/joinfs/install.html

    Hint: run application as Administrator.

There are two items attached to this email: A .jpg map and flight plan and an FSX .pln file you can load into FSX / GPS. (I don’t know about Xplane or P3D).

We sure hope you can join us for a lot of fun flying and fellowship on the TeamSpeak channel (Nice, since we are all isolated these days)

It would be nice if you could join the TeamSpeak channel at around 11:30EDT so we can provide any assistance you might need.

In memory of Kerry Todd DVA432

    12:00 pmKATL Atlanta, Georgia

    IN MEMORY OF KERRY TODD

We have lost the very first DVA member Kerry Todd. Kerry passed away just after New Year from complications of a pace maker implant and two strokes. He will surely be missed. he joined DVA back in 2007 as it's first member. Both Larry Mott (CEO) and I (Kaj COO) have had the pleasure to meet him personally. Larry met him and his brother in Tucson at the PIMA aircraft museum and I linked up with him at the Flight Sim Exhibition in Dallas Texas where we shared hotel room and had many fun conversations.

We will honor Kerry with a flight from Atlanta to his home town Jacksonville in Florida.
I suggest we use light, but fast, aircrafts for this flight.

    The unknown airports Group Flight

    12:00 pmENSQ (Kiruna, Sweden)

Well here we are in Northern Sweden. Kiruna, the place that gave wealth to Sweden around 1920 due to the steel discovery. from here we are flying North to another historic place. Svalbard also known as Spitzbergen. In 1897 Andree and two other men, set out from Svalbard (then Spitzbergen) to cross the North Pole in a balloon. The attempt failed not long after start. It was only in 1930 we learned the faith of the 3 men. The camera film survived. Watch the story in the link bellow. This is where General Nobile of Italy started his ill fated flight to reach the North Pole in the airship ITALIA in 1927.
